Not my day job

Last week was a bit surreal for me. I don't know how I ended up agreeing to display myself on a ramp for public humiliation, but I did.

The fashion show was held by Royal Elastics at the Mall of Asia. It was my first time to experience walking on a runway in my life. Take note, I'm not saying I "modeled" because that's definitely the work of professional, I literally just walked like an automaton across the stage. Anyway, call time was 1:30pm and I got there early enough to treat myself to a spa (jePun Pali) for 2 hours. I took a short nap while the massage therapist was giving me hilot, which is a traditional Filipino massage. It was very gentle and soothing - perfect for the long, stressful and mortifying night ahead of me.

I got the meeting place a bit rested, but since this was the first time I'll be walking the ramp, I felt all nauseated and panicky. We did some walk rehearsals and got ready for the event. Make-up, clothes and hairstyle was just a little over the ordinary because we were modeling a shoe brand called Royal Elastics (I love their styles!). Some of the shoes that I wore were:

Kogal Slip on Hawaii Five Oh Icon (white/truffle/pink)
(Aren't they the cutest? They feel really comfy too! Great for walking around the mall or traveling! )

Some of the models and I were drinking some beer backstage just to calm our nerves before going on stage. Going on stage was all a blur --- the alcohol definitely helped. It happened faster than I imagined and it was all done soon. We had 3 sets and each set just lasted or a minute or two. Or maybe it was just all in my head because I wasn't looking at my watch anyway. It was a fun, nerve-racking experience for me, but ultimately, I was glad I did it. At least once in my life, I experienced something out of the ordinary from the things that I normally do.

After the fashion show, my friends and I went to Cuillere in Serendra, Fort Bonifacio for a very late dinner. The waiter was kind enough to let us order because they were close to closing time already. I had mushroom soup and lamb with potato gratin. Mmmm... it was really good, but I felt too tired to actually savor the food. It was a fine dinner and the prices of the restaurant were reasonable. I liked the ambiance because it was relaxing and quiet since we stayed inside.

We took a nightcap in Cuisine after. My friend said that he had a bottle of vodka there and that we could just finish and go home after. I haven't been to Cuisine in ages but nothing has changed since I last went there. Still the same smoky superficiality that's seen in upscale clubs like that. I just enjoyed my drink with my friends and got tipsy enough to have a very much deserved good night's sleep.

Nailed

This was the first time I ever tried acrylic nail extensions. I was hesitant at first because I'm a low maintenance type of girl. I rarely go the the salon (only 2x a year) for a hair trim and I've had my nails manicured less than 5x in my whole life. I guess I'm not one of those girly girls. But, these nails look FABULOUS! They are picture perfect! After almost 2 hours of just sitting and watching the nail technician buff, file and delicately contour the acrylic to my nail, I ended up with picture perfect nails. They really seem realistic, which is the best part of the whole beautification process. I dislike artificial looking things that are supposed to make you look prettier. Where's the glamour in that? But if something just enhances your natural assets, that's a winner.

I'm glad I had those 2 hours of pampering to myself. A working girl has to have her cake and eat it too! Best part of it all, it's FREE!

Sorry I don't have pictures, but I will definitely post next time.
